TC’s Guide to Kid-Friendly Museums in the DFW Area
At Trusting Connections, we love finding fun ways to keep kids engaged and inquisitive. The DFW area is home to some amazing museums that are perfect for a museum field trip with your child! We’ve looked for museums that have special activities made with kids in mind. Here are some of our top picks for kid-friendly DFW museums:
The Dallas Museum of Art
The DMA has an extensive collection and several special programs and events made just for kids. Their art-to-go tote bags provide fun activities and are available for free check-out at the Pop-Up Art Spot on Saturdays. The museum also has free general admission!
The Perot Museum of Nature and Science
The Perot Museum is relatively new to Dallas’s museum scene. The beautiful modern architecture hosts 11 permanent exhibit halls, including the Moody Family Children’s Museum, which was designed especially with children ages 5 and under in mind. For older kids, their offerings engage a wide range of interests. At the Perot Museum, kids can explore the link between birds and dinosaurs, check out the gem and mineral exhibits, and learn about the human body. Their exhibits provide plenty of opportunities for interaction. In their family sports hall, your kids can test whether they could outrun a Tyrannosaurus Rex! Check out their calendar for special events as well!
The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth
Paint splatters, candy installations, and a winged ladder to the sky are just a few features that make modern art fun and accessible for kids! The Modern has a Wonderful Wednesdays series for families with young children. This series “includes a gallery project and a tour focusing on a few works in the collection.” For parents and older kids, the Modern offers a world-class collection of modern art.
We hope that you and your family have fun exploring these great local museums!
